Tips On What To Specify When Ordering A 3 Compartment Sink

Steel Options

Steel measures in thickness and is referred to as Gauge. A good majority of sinks are built from 18, 16, or 14 gauge steel. The higher the gauge the thinner the metal will be, the lower the gauge the thicker the metal.

For three-compartment sinks, you’ll see steel quality in a series of numbers of 304, 403, and 316. 304 is the standard, 403 is a lower-quality series, and 316 is a more corrosion-resistant, marine-grade steel.

Manufacturing Process

There are two kinds of manufacturing methods your sink can be fabricated with. The first one is when standard steel is cut and welded together at the seams. Or the other option is to go with deep-drawn construction. They are individual sinks and give a bit more space for each compartment. Deep drawn sinks make it easier to clean as well.

Bowl Size

Bowl sizes range from 16X18 to 30X24 including all sizes in between. Typical 16X1

8 or 16X20 are the most common sizes that you will see. The depth is normally 12 to 14 inches high.

Sink Support

When it comes to supporting your sink you have two options to choose from Galvanized Steel or Stainless Steel. Galvanized Steel does have the tendency to rust but it is a more affordable option as compared to Stainless. Stainless Steel has the likelihood of not rusting and lasting much longer in a wet environment.
